FAQs

Answers about our web design and development

What do I need in place to get started?

You will need to purchase a domain name and secure web hosting. If you need help or are unsure how to do these things, we can help walk you through it.

Can you host my website?

We do not provide web hosting solutions for our clients, in part because we want our clients to enjoy the freedom to chose the best web host solution for their individual situation. Having your own host ensures that you have the freedom and ability to move your site without being tethered to us. We do not have affiliate relationships with hosting companies, but we have worked with a number of them, and can certainly share our thoughts about ones we have had good & bad experiences with.

How much will my website cost?

For new website builds and rebuilds, our packages start as low as $800. See our package rates to estimate your cost.

Do you have the ability to keep my current site up while you are building the new one?

If you have an existing website on the domain you’d like to use, we can easily build your new website on one of our test urls or on a subdomain of your account, and then replace the old site with the new site when you are ready. This means very little down time for you!

How long will it take to build my new website?

That depends primarily on two things. First, it depends on how many other projects I am working on. I will always be upfront about my timeline and will give you an estimate (usually between 4-6 weeks) after you sign the contract and provide your content. Second, it depends on the size of your project.

How do we get started?

It’s easy! We will discuss your needs and we will draw up a proposal for your project. Once we have finalized the proposal, we will send you an invoice for the deposit, a contract and our website worksheet planner.

Will I be able to make changes to my website?

One of the reasons that people chose WordPress is because it’s fairly easy for the novice to make basic content changes to their website and blog. I provide step by step instructions on WordPress basics to help you feel comfortable using and changing your website without relying on me.

Can you maintain my website for me?

I have a monthly (no contract) website maintenance service for $35/mo that includes keeping your plugins and WP core updated and site regularly backed up. It’s totally up to you if you want to be on this plan or if you’d like to do the updating yourself. This service does not include content changes or additions. I can be hired at my hourly rate to do that work for you as well.
